SAS Hour

What is it?

The Hour function returns a positive integer ranging from 0 to 23
The function can calculate the hour based on either a SAS Time value or a SAS DateTime Value

Syntax:

Hour(time or datetime);

SAS Hour Statement:

SAS Hour Example:

Data work.my_data_file;

Result_1 = Hour(time());
Result_2 = Hour(datetime());

Run;

What's happening in the script above?

The Hour(); Function is calculating the current hour (which in this example is based on 11:49pm; a.k.a 23:49
The Hour(); Function only returns a value ranging from 0 to 23;

Hour Example:

Variable	Input	Output	Description
Result_1	Hour(Time());	23	This function was run at 11:49pm EST
Result_2	Hour(datetime());	23	This function was run at 11:49pm EST
